My name is Alejandro Guardiola, but you can call me Alex. I live on Vernon Hill, and I'm asking for your vote for Worcester School Committee District D.
I am a first generation Mexican-American, born to a hard-working single mother. We moved to Worcester when I was a toddler, and District D has been home my entire life. Growing up, I was a student at Jacob Hiatt Magnet School on Main Street.
Thanks to my Worcester Public Schools education, I was well prepared for college, where I went to UNH as an undergraduate and then attended New England School of Law.
I then started working at the Massachusetts Attorney General's office, and a few years later started at UMass Chan Medical School. In these roles, I investigated labor wage theft and Medicaid fraud, dedicating myself to helping working families in Worcester.
In 2018, I started at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, where I am currently the Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy. I also started teaching at Clark University just this past year, teaching graduate courses on public administration.
Everything changed for me, though, when my daughter Cassandra was born last year. My partner Virginia and I want the best future possible for her, and that inspired me to run for School Committee.
I was incredibly surprised to learn that if I am elected, I will become the first Latino man to serve on the Worcester School Committee. It is a responsibility I do not take lightly, and it would be the honor of a lifetime to represent the neighborhoods I grew up in.
Thank you, and I humbly ask for your vote on November 7.
- Alex
